A little history lesson

Today’s blog is a lil history about the belt buckle. They were not always made for fashion belts. Truthfully, I didn’t know anything about belt buckles before I started working for FOSTERWELD, so I thought I should get educated.

First off, belt buckles came about during the iron age, which was the period when weapons and tools were being made from iron or steel. So with these awesome belt buckles now available, who would want to wear them? Well of course the military.

They were super popular in the 19th century, but since then have grown even more so into a fashion accessory in the 20th century, because pants were moving more toward the waist.

Also, men were the only ones that typically wore buckles because they were seen as masculine ornaments. Thank goodness times have changed, along with the buckle, and women can wear them now too.
